Living With Hearing Loss

By:  Ellyn Grider, M.A., Audiology Resident

Untreated hearing loss has the ability to affect an individual’s social life, lower the overall quality of life, and cause mental fatigue, potentially resulting in depression and anxiety. Those with hearing impairment may recognize the feeling of being more tired than their peers at the end of the day. Straining to distinguish and comprehend speech, while simultaneously filtering out background noise, requires more energy than people with average hearing.

Hearing treatments, such as hearing aids and cochlear implants, cannot restore natural hearing; however, these treatments can help hearing impaired individuals live happy, engaging, and improved lives.

Today, most hearing aids are small, discrete, and process sound in highly advanced ways. No more “tan banana” or battery packs our grandparents used to wear!

If you, or a loved one, is in need of our care and services, please send them our way.
